History

Founded on 9 March 1996 in honour of Dr. Hermann Gmeiner, the visionary founder of SOS Children’s Village International, SOS Hermann Gmeiner College Bogura is located in Baropur, 5 km north of the town centre. It was established to provide quality education to orphaned and disadvantaged children from SOS Children’s Village Bogura, alongside local day scholars.

Operating under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Rajshahi  and managed by SOS Bangladesh, the institution follows the motto:
“Honesty is education, education is peace and peace is progress.”
It upholds values of merit, discipline, and integrity, focusing on academic excellence, moral development, and extracurricular engagement.

The college first presented SSC candidates in 2000 and HSC candidates in 2004, gaining official recognition at the Higher Secondary level in December 1999 (EIIN: 132281). It offers education from Prep-1 to Class XII in the Bengali medium, with streams in Science.

Facilities include modern classrooms, science laboratories, library, computer lab, playground, and basketball court, set in a green and welcoming campus.
